Airbus and Boeing competition continues following sales report

In a report released on 18 September 2026, it was revealed that Airbus has overcame Boeing in the number of orders of their sales for their airplane models. 

Even though both companies are well known for their designs, like the Boeing 747 and the Airbus A380, the interiors of their respective cockpits are vastly different. The yoke of a Boeing and a joystick of an Airbus each have their advantages and disadvantages.

Airbus is very automated, putting its trust in automatic flying, while Boeing gives a more manual, hands-on approach to the pilot. 

The Boeing yoke is a large, rectangular steering wheel, which, as the other pilot controls, moves together to allow you to easily know what the pilot is doing with the plane.

The captain’s side yoke, as shown above, of a Boeing 737. It allows for two hands on the yoke for better control. The disadvantage of the Boeing’s yoke is when landing, the pilot will need to turn this yoke far more to do small adjustments to the plane. But how about a sidestick? 

A sidestick allows for more space in the cabin. The plane does self-adjustments, to make for smoother flying and for ease. The only downside is that it doesn’t show what inputs the other pilot or the autopilot has made, making the pilot must be aware of other inputs. 

In summary, Boeing can be described as the best for pilots that wish to be hands on, having fun, and for challengers, however Airbus is more beneficial for pilots who need or want extra safety and ease in flying.
